What are solid shims?

Solid shims are single-piece, non-layered metal spacer elements manufactured to a fixed, precise thickness. Unlike peelable or laminated shims, they cannot be adjusted after manufacture. Solid shims are the right choice when a permanent, fixed-thickness fit is required and no further on-site adjustment is needed. For applications requiring layer-by-layer on-site adjustment, Laminum® peelable shims or Lamivario® reusable shims are better suited. Solid shims are also recommended to absorb shear forces in highly dynamic load situations where laminated shims are not appropriate.
